Make An Impact With Your Brand Logo In Print
When designing your brand logo, undoubtedly a key fundamental was making your logo recognisable. Think of some of the globe’s most iconic brands; McDonald’s golden arches, Nike’s swoosh tick or Ralph Lauren’s polo player – all are immediately recognisable at a moment’s glance, across any marketing medium.
When it comes to poster printing, it’s pivotal that you use quality design to spotlight your brand logo. Depending on which size your poster will be, there are several different aspects to consider, in order to use your logo to maximum effect.
Location is key
You should carefully consider where you position the logo on the poster. The general rule is to follow the inverted pyramid method of including the most important information at the top. However, the most effective logo position varies depending on the size and elevation of a poster. On any poster, positioning your logo in the eye level vicinity allows more readers to quickly identify the brand. Unless you draw attention to it, the bottom of the poster is the least valuable region as people tend to overlook material printed there.
Additionally, the left side of a print is more valuable than both the middle and right side. Similar to reading a book, a study found that most people naturally look to the left first and follow an F-shaped pattern when reading a website page or glancing over a poster.
Stick to a strict colour scheme Keep the colours and fine detail within your poster to a minimum, as your logo needs to be clear and easy to read at a distance. Try using the same colour scheme as the poster design itself. Most powerful brands in the world stick to a simple palette of three main colours.
If you are using an eye-catching coloured background, make the logo semi- transparent. This is a subtle way of advertising the brand without competing for attention against the vibrant poster design. Alternately, a logo with a styled in white background or border should not require
much alteration – provided the text and image are large enough to be easily read.
Use high-quality images
It may sound obvious but always make sure that the images/logos you supply your print company with, are the right size for your print. If the resolution is too low then your logo could become pixelated and this won’t reflect well on your brand or potential customer’s first impression of your business.
To make sure your logos have the clearest print, do not use an image with smaller than 100-pixel resolution.
Less is more – scrap the slogans
In order to maintain a clean and simple poster design, avoid logos that contain slogans. Unless you are a major international brand, slogans are far less identifiable than the symbol components of a logo. You shouldn’t devalue the content of your poster by adding on a slogan that sounds catchy but adds no value to your brand.
In order to keep attention on the content of your print, and your logo readable, choose a version of your logo that is uncluttered.
